morel mushroom harvest. Flea market, arts/craft show, live music,

May 16-18 Empire Asparagus Festival – The spring asparagus
harvest will be celebrated with festival in the Village of Empire on
Friday & Saturday. Events include: Kids’ games, a car show, a
parade, cooking contest “Ode to Asparagus” poetry contest.
May 23-26 Memorial Day Weekend
Ice cream social, bike parade, train rides and loads of fun. The pool
is open and heated!!!
June 14th Leland Wine and Food Festival – Enjoy tasting
several selections of wine from area vineyards as well as tempting
epicurean delights under a big tent overlooking Lake Michigan.
Enjoy listening to a variety of music in the heart of historic Fishtown
in Leland.

Come and join us for our annual Father's Day pancake breakfast. A
great weekend for golfing, canoeing or, whatever floats your boat.

Trimming the tree Friday Night. Cookie decorating, craft, bingo,
Santa visit (bring a small wrapped gift $5.00 value) for your child to

July 5-12 81st National Cherry Festival – This is the Big One!
America’s Cherry Capital celebrates its heritage with an eight-day
party that features over 150 family activities. There are air shows,
fireworks over the Bay, three parades, games for all ages, midway
rides and nightly open-air concerts – and plenty of opportunity to
sample dozens of delicious cherry products.
July 26 Traverse Outdoor Art Fair - Artists from all over the
country gather for this annual art fair under the pines of
Northwestern Michigan College. Includes a variety of food booths
and music.
July 26 Suttons Bay Jazzfest – Eight hours of classic jazz by
national, regional and local jazz notables. Held by the bay in Suttons
Bay.
July 28-Aug 2nd Harbor Days 2008 – Carnival and midway,
community dinner in the park, sand castle building, tug of war , pet
show, fireworks on Saturday. Downtown Elk Rapids.
July 28-Aug 3rd Traverse City Film Festival – The 3rd annual film
festival will have more fun. There will be more parties and premiers,
more family and children’s films, actors, directors, writers and other
film industry representatives.
August 1-3 Sleeping Bear Dunegrass and Blues Festival –
Outdoor music fest featuring bluegrass and rock music. Arts and
crafts displays, food booths, kid tent with arts & crafts including face
painting.
August 2-3 29th Annual Suttons Bay Art Fair – Over 90 juried
artists and craftsmen, children’s art, foods, and wine blend with the
watercolors of the Suttons Bay Marina.
August 3-9 Northwestern Michigan Fair – Annual event with
exhibits, animals, carnival, midway rides, harness racing, horse pulls,
demo derby, daily 4-H livestock shows.
August 11 Northport Wine & Food Festival – Sample some
wine, eat some good food, then sit on the grass (or chairs) to listen
to some good music – there are two exciting jazz bands: Eddie Shaw
and James Armstrong.
August 14-17 Buckley Old Engine Show – Large steam
engines, old tractors, antique cars and trucks, sawmill, veneer mill,
tractor races and pulls. Old time music, arts & craft show,
woodworking & woodcrafts. Large Flea Market. Cider mill
demonstration daily.
August 29-Sept 1 Labor Day Weekend
September 27th – Murder Mystery Weekend
It is time for the All Saints College Class of '57 Reunion. For one
night we will return to the good old days when Elvis was at the top of
the charts. Sock hops, hula-hoops and poodles were radioactive.
Getting pinned meant something altogether different than it does
these days.
October 3-15 - Fall Colors
